Red Dot Campaign and BNF are joining forces to give back by making meals for NY Common Pantry – a food pantry in East Harlem dedicated to reducing hunger throughout NYC – and collecting winter clothes for Trinity Place Shelter – a non-sectarian, 10-bed transitional shelter that provides LGBTQ youth and young adults with a safe place to sleep, shower, eat and store belongings.
Day two will serve as a meal preparation and closing reception for the weekend's efforts. There will be two meal prep stations: a sandwich station–we plan to make two kinds: peanut butter & jelly, turkey &cheese–and snack station–two variations as well: trail mix, popcorn. Our goal is to make 200 sandwiches for NY Common Pantry and at least 200 snack packs for participants to take with them and distribute throughout the city.
We will also accept non-perishable food items like apple sauce, canned beans, canned protein (chicken, tuna, SPAM…), crackers, canned or dried fruit, granola bars, nuts, pasta, peanut butter, rice, soup, cereal.
